Community Service Spotlight @ FBG

Serving our community is paramount at Fallon Benefits Group. We have a community service committee whose focus is to drive our involvement throughout the year in a variety of ways.

Our team comes together once a year to support the Atlanta community in a special way. We close the office and provide support to a selected charitable organization for the day by volunteering. This year, we spent the day at Books for Africa sorting and packing books that will be distributed to children in Africa. Books for Africa is a non-profit started in 1988 with locations in Atlanta, GA and St. Paul, MN whose goal is simple and powerful: to end the book famine in Africa.

While there, we learned that Books for Africa ships a variety of books to 53 different countries. In the past year alone, 3 million books were distributed to students of all ages. We were fortunate to play a small part in the assembly of boxes of books that will educate and inspire students in Africa, who we learned have very limited access to books. The books were organized by grade and category, and covered subjects including science, math, reading, world history and leisure reading.

To continue our support of Books for Africa, our office hosts an area for book donation. Any books for students in pre-K through college are welcome. Stop by and see us if you’d like to donate to a wonderful cause. You can also click the link to their website below if you’d like more information about the great work they’re doing.
